The American Serena Williams admitted that she would not be back in Indian Wells, if her older sister Venus didn`t support her decision. The last time the world number one game in the tournament in California in 2001, then she boycotted the race.
"I would not be here if I was not supported by my sister. Venus is very happy that I decided to play here and stands 100% behind me. I don`t feel much pressure. I have not participated in the tournament after the Australian Open, so I`ll just try to show my best tennis in every match, "said Serena, and quoted by the official website of WTA.
The leader in the scheme Williams begins his participation in Indian Wells tonight. She is qualified directly for the second round, where she expects the Romanian Monica Niculescu. The match is the last in the program of the central court.
