Nadal returned to Hamburg with a twist

The lieder in the main draw, Rafael Nadal overcame a set liability to qualify for the second round of the ournament on clay in Hamburg. In a full Spanish duel the former No1 won with 3:6, 6:1, 6:1 over Fernando Verdasco.

For Rafa it has been the first match in Hamburg since 2008 onwards, thanks to the success he has already resulted in direct duels with Verdasco with 14:2 wins.

The match began with a breakthrough on the account of Nadal, who, however, was quickly returned by Verdasco. In the second round Nadal will face the winner of the match between Jiri Veseli and Andreas Haider-Maurer.

For Rafa it was the first match after the surprise elimination in the second round of Wimbledon, where the matador was defeated by Dustin Brown. Moreover - Rafa interrupted a series of two consecutive (and only) wins on the account of Verdasco in direct duels between the both.
