The European Football Association is releasing 500 thousand euros for the election campaign of the General Secretary, Gianni Infantino, who is fighting for the position of FIFA President.
The financing has been clarified and voted in October last year. In the words of the Infantino, the money will be used mainly for airline tickets on his trips around the world and for some more technical details in the campaign itself.
Elections for a new President of FIFA will be held on 26 February, and Infantino has four contenders for the post. These are Sheikh Salman Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, Prince Ali of Jordan, former Minister of housing in South Africa Tokyo Seksvale and former Deputy General Secretary of FIFA Jerome Champagne.
UEFA initially supported Michel Platini, who however is currently revoked to exercise any activity in football. It is precisely this punishment had the elevation of the Infantino as a contender by UEFA.
